A Lifelong Commitment to Martial Arts
Shreepada R. Rao began his martial arts training in childhood with Shito Ryu Karate in Puttur before shifting to Shotokan Karate in Belagavi. However, it was his transition to Olympic-style Taekwondo under Master Subhash Yadav that defined his career trajectory. Over the years, he climbed the ranks, achieving the prestigious 4th Dan Black Belt certified by Kukkiwon – WT HQ, South Korea.
In 2012, he founded Rao’s Yuva Academy in Belagavi, creating a training hub that has nurtured countless young athletes. His institute is officially recognized by the Taekwondo Federation of India, cementing his role in developing grassroots talent.
Leadership in Coaching and Refereeing
Mr. Rao’s influence goes beyond training. He has held pivotal roles in national and international Taekwondo events — from being a National Referee (Class II) to serving as a Tournament Director, Technical Director, and Chief Referee in various championships. His contribution to improving technical standards and promoting fair play has significantly elevated the profile of Taekwondo in Karnataka and beyond.
He has also served as Team Coach for Belagavi District teams during State Championships and has led delegations in prestigious events like the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan. His global credentials include World Taekwondo Level I & II Coach Certifications, and he has been awarded a Global License as Referee, Coach, and Official by World Taekwondo, Lausanne.
